National Baptist Sunday School Publishing Board chooses WORDsearch for Software

The announcement marks the second major denomination in less than a year to choose WORDsearch
as its preferred provider while underscoring the company’s momentum in the marketplace

Austin, Texas—The Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (SSPB)—the oldest and largest African American Baptist religious convention—has announced that it has chosen WORDsearch as its preferred Bible software provider. The SSPB has partnered with WORDsearch to produce and market custom Bible software packages designed especially for National Baptist pastors, teachers and laity. The software will include proprietary Sunday School Publishing Board (SSPB) content, as well as other resources selected by the convention’s leaders, and will be presented in WORDsearch’s powerful, user-friendly programs.

Less than a year ago, WORDsearch formed a strategic alliance with another provider of Christian products and services—LifeWay Christian Resources, the publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. Now, SSPB leaders also plan to use WORDsearch technology to provide their members with resources they need to further their ministry.

“We chose WORDsearch because it’s so easy to use, and the electronic libraries have the kind of content our teachers and preachers need,” said Dr. E.L. Thomas, Executive Director of the SSPB. “Combined with our own Christian Leadership School Manual and other books, it’s an enormously valuable tool.”

Two of the initial products are The SSPB Preacher’s Package (which contains more than 60 volumes of Bibles and books, plus four volumes of SSPB books, including the current Christian Leadership School Manual) and The SSPB Teacher’s and Leader’s Package (which includes more than 25 volumes of Bibles and books, plus four volumes of SSPB books, including the current Christian Leadership School Manual).

Both new SSPB products are now available from the SSPB (800-359-9398) and from WORDsearch (800-888-9898).

The National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., was founded in 1880. The Sunday School Publishing Board, one of the largest denominational publishers in the United States serves 26,000 churches with an approximate membership of more than 7.5 million. In an average year, the SSPB processes a minimum of 500 leadership education schools, certifies more than 80,000 students and accredits at least 3,000 deans and instructors.
