A Dictionary of the Holy Bibleis based upon Dr. Edward Robinson's Condensed Bible Dictionary. This dictionary includes additions from the dictionaries of Rev. John Brown, author of the Self-Interpreting Bible, and Professor John Eadie of Scotland, best known for his commentaries on the Greek text of St. Paul's epistles to the Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians and Galatians. About the Editor William Wilberforce Rand was born in Gorham, Maine in 1816. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1837 and from Bangor Theological Seminary in 1840. Rand was licensed to preach as a Congregational minister and was the pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church of Canastota, New York from 1841– 1845. He was an editor for the American Tract Society in New York from 1848–72; and publishing secretary of the same from 1872–1902. He is the author of Songs of Zion and other smaller books. Rand died in Yonkers in the spring of 1909.
