Product Highlights
The Basic Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments in basic English, was first published in 1941 as the New Testament only. The Old Testament was later added to complete the Bible in 1965. The Bible in Basic English, which it is commonly called, was produced by Mr. C. K. Ogden Director of the Orthological Institute. The translation uses a simple form of the English language which, with is limited 850 words, is able to give the sense of anything which may be said in English. With the addition of 50 Special Biblical words and the use of 100 words listed as giving the most help in the reading of English verse, this number has been increased to 1,000 for the purpose of putting the Bible into Basic English language.
