Product Highlights
We live in an age that frowns on denouncing any belief as false. But just as putting our confidence in an airline pilot without any training can lead to physical disaster, so relying on false spiritual teachers can lead to spiritual disaster with eternal consequences. Second Peter and Jude share a common theme, if not literary dependence on one another. They both offer responses to false teaching. But the form and content of their antidote is not always easy to apply to today's world. Robert Harvey and Philip Towner offer skilled guidance in our appropriation of these two short letters. In these careful studies, readers will find introductions that set the letters in context and survey the issues surrounding their authorship, date, occasion, and purpose. Passage-by-passage commentary follows that explains what the letters mean for us today as well as what they meant for their original hearers. Students, pastors, Bible teachers, and everyone who wants to understand the message of these letters for the church will benefit from this excellent resource. About the Authors The late Robert Harvey was a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary and a pastor for over forty years in Iowa, Washington state, and Illinois. He was founding pastor of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Warrenville, Illinois, where he served until his retirement. Philip H.
