Product Highlights
"If a sermon can be compared to light, then A.W. Tozer released a laser beam from the pulpit, a beam that penetrated your heart" "His ability to separate the wheat from the chaff, the lesser the greater, reflects his great vision of God." "Those who drink deeply of his writings are refreshed and nourished. We need invigorating draughts of Tozer today!" "Speaking from a wealth of biblical knowledge and rich pastoral experience, Tozer writes for the ages, calling God's people from the trite, superficial Christianity that is all too common today, to a serious pursuit of God." "Tozer is one the great Christian writers of this century…Reading him is like drinking at an oasis in the desert." "Tozer certainly had a knowledge of the Holy. A few minutes in his presence made it evident that he walked with God." "Tozer's books reflect a unigue blend of genuine piety and downright common sense...He challenges every sort of spiritual pretention." "Tozer is timeless...Whenever my heart needs to be rekindled I seem to find myself eventually turning to Tozer." "My life and leadership...continue to be challenged by Christ's 'high call' as enunciated through Dr. Tozer's writings." "A W Tozer was my primary spiritual mentor when I was a young Christian. No Christian author has had a greater impact on me." "I have read and reread Tozer's books and each time sense a hushed silence. It is the silence that has heard from God." "The writings of Tozer shake me from slumber, inspire grand thoughts and expose the compromise in my heart." "In our information age, Tozer's books continue to offer not just information but insight which is relevant and time-tested." "I fear that we shall never see another Tozer. Men like him are not college bred but Spirit taught." "A.W. Tozer is a must. Actually, I prefer reading Tozer over listening to him. The Knowlegde of the Holy should in everyone's library. Tozer and Havner are much alike, with one sentence or phrase they can rock your world." Based on sermons that Tozer preached from the final chapters of the letter to the Hebrews. The author underscores the necessity of an active, abiding faith in Jesus Christ so we can live lives pleasing to God. Often quoted by Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley, Billy Graham and other great preachers, A.W. Tozer's words are being heard and read by millions today-words like: 'We must make our choices even as Enoch did. Enoch refused to walk in agreement with the ungodly multitude of his generation.'-Chapter 2, Enoch: Faith Takes Us to the Rapture 'I hope I never hear any Christian bragging even a little bit about what he or she gave up and how much it cost him or her to answer the call of God. Anything that we were or any abilities that we possessed were as nothing compared to what God has called us into as His believing children.'-Chapter 4, Faith Answers When God Calls If I am tempted to copy someone whom I admire as a Christian believer, I will probably succeed only in copying his or her eccentricities and not that person's spirituality at all.-Chapter 6, Faith Is Finding God for Ourselves The chapters of this book were originally preached as sermons at Avenue Road Alliance Church in Toronto. Whether spoken or written, Tozer's words were designed to 'promote personal heart religion' among God's people. About the Author In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without any formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. Thus began his journey of forty-four years of ministry, serving faithfully with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) denomination. In 1950, Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA. Among the many books that he authored, the most well known is the Christian classic The Pursuit of God. His books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God.
