Product Highlights
"This long-overdue book, one of the decade's best books in its field, is a gift to counselors. The chapters on sin and prayer alone are worth the price of the book. And the 'What If This Happened?' sections take the material out of merely cerebral and force readers to interact with it in real-life scenarios. This book fills a major void and will become required reading for my seminary students. The six intregration challenges are a gold mine for both the practitioner and the professor." The American Association of Christian Counselors and Tyndale House Publishers are committed to ministering to the spiritual needs of people. This book is part of the professional series that offers counselors the latest techniques, theory, and general information that is vital to their work. While many books have tried to integrate theology and psychology, this book takes another step and explores the importance of the spiritual disciplines in psychotherapy, helping counselors to integrate the biblical principles of forgiveness, redemption, restitution, prayer, and worship into their counseling techniques. About the Author Mark McMinn received his undergraduate degree from Lewis and Clark College and a PhD in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University. McMinn taught at George Fox from 1984 to 1993 before leaving to help start the Doctor of Psychology program at Wheaton College, where he later assumed an endowed chair position. McMinn returned to George Fox University and is currently Professor of Psychology. He has been a licensed psychologist since 1985 and board certified since 1995. He especially enjoys working with clergy, both in his clinical work and through a data-based method of church-based consultation. McMinn is a past president of APA's Psychology of Religion and the author of various trade books, professional books, and journal articles. Primary areas of research interest include clergy-psychology collaboration, clergy health, and the integration of psychology and Christianity.
