About the Author
Samuel Dickey Gordon was never given a doctor's degree, and he preferred to be called Mr. S. D. Gordon. He served as the assistant secretary of the YMCA in Philadelphia for two years and as the secretary of the YMCA in Ohio for nine years. After that time, he devoted himself to public speaking in the US, Europe, and Asia. In 1895, he was invited to the Moody Bible Institute where he delivered a course of lectures. His first Quiet Talks volume was published this same year. Gordon was a warm supporter of Keswick, and he spoke at both the 1909 convention and the 1932 convention. Gordon died in his home in Winston-Salem, NC on June 26, 1936.
