Religious ritual is directly opposed to a living encounter with the indwelling Christ. Either one or the other must have dominion, and therefore a constant battle rages between the two opposing forces. An encouraging and edifying volume that will help you wage a good warfare.

Often quoted by Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley, Billy Graham and other great preachers, A.W. Tozer's words are being heard and read by millions today-words like:

Never attach yourself to any [person] as a parasite. Adopt no man as a guru. Apart from the inspired writers of Holy Scriptures no man is worthy of such confidence. The sweetest saint can be mistaken.-Chapter 6, Let No One Become Necessary to You

Sin is a poisonous weed that throws the whole nature out of order. The inner life disintegrates; the flesh lusts after forbidden pleasures; the moral judgment is distorted so that often good appears evil and evil good; time is chosen over eternity, earth over heaven and death over life.-Chapter 12, Eating the Locoweed

I have long believed that a man who spurns the Christian faith outright is more respected before God and the heavenly powers than the man who pretends to religion but refuses to come under its total domination. About the Author
He was called a 'A 20^th century prophet' even in his own lifetime. Tozer began his lifelong pursuit of God at the age of seventeen after hearing a street preacher in Akron, Ohio say: 'If you don't know how to be saved…just call on God.' Upon returning home, he climbed into the attic, and called on God to be saved.

In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without any formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. Thus began his journey of forty-four years of ministry, serving faithfully with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) denomination.

In 1950, Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA.

Among the many books that he authored, the most well known is the Christian classic The Pursuit of God. His books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God.
