Product Highlights
"If a sermon can be compared to light, then A.W. Tozer released a laser beam from the pulpit, a beam that penetrated your heart" "His ability to separate the wheat from the chaff, the lesser the greater, reflects his great vision of God." "Those who drink deeply of his writings are refreshed and nourished. We need invigorating draughts of Tozer today!" "A W Tozer was my primary spiritual mentor when I was a young Christian. No Christian author has had a greater impact on me." "I have read and reread Tozer's books and each time sense a hushed silence. It is the silence that has heard from God." "The writings of Tozer shake me from slumber, inspire grand thoughts and expose the compromise in my heart." "Speaking from a wealth of biblical knowledge and rich pastoral experience, Tozer writes for the ages, calling God's people from the trite, superficial Christianity that is all too common today, to a serious pursuit of God." "Tozer certainly had a knowledge of the Holy. A few minutes in his presence made it evident that he walked with God." "Tozer's books reflect a unique blend of genuine piety and downright common sense...He challenges every sort of spiritual pretention." "Tozer is timeless...Whenever my heart needs to be rekindled I seem to find myself eventually turning to Tozer." "My life and leadership...continue to be challenged by Christ's 'high call' as enunciated through Dr. Tozer's writings." "Tozer is one the great Christian writers of this century…Reading him is like drinking at an oasis in the desert." "In our information age, Tozer's books continue to offer not just information but insight which is relevant and time-tested." "I fear that we shall never see another Tozer. Men like him are not college bred but Spirit taught." "A.W. Tozer is a must. Actually, I prefer reading Tozer over listening to him. The Knowlegde of the Holy should in everyone's library. Tozer and Havner are much alike, with one sentence or phrase they can rock your world." Religious ritual is directly opposed to a living encounter with the indwelling Christ. Either one or the other must have dominion, and therefore a constant battle rages between the two opposing forces. An encouraging and edifying volume that will help you wage a good warfare. Often quoted by Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley, Billy Graham and other great preachers, A.W. Tozer's words are being heard and read by millions today-words like: Never attach yourself to any [person] as a parasite. Adopt no man as a guru. Apart from the inspired writers of Holy Scriptures no man is worthy of such confidence. The sweetest saint can be mistaken.-Chapter 6, Let No One Become Necessary to You Sin is a poisonous weed that throws the whole nature out of order. The inner life disintegrates; the flesh lusts after forbidden pleasures; the moral judgment is distorted so that often good appears evil and evil good; time is chosen over eternity, earth over heaven and death over life.-Chapter 12, Eating the Locoweed I have long believed that a man who spurns the Christian faith outright is more respected before God and the heavenly powers than the man who pretends to religion but refuses to come under its total domination. The first is an overt enemy, the second a false friend.-Chapter 29, The Way of the Cross The chapters of this book were originally published as editorials in Alliance Life magazine. These incisive columns now make provocative reading. About the Author In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without any formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. Thus began his journey of forty-four years of ministry, serving faithfully with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) denomination. In 1950, Tozer was elected editor of the Alliance Weekly magazine, now called, Alliance Life, the official publication of the C&MA. Among the many books that he authored, the most well known is the Christian classic The Pursuit of God. His books impress on the reader the possibility and necessity for a deeper relationship with God.
