About the Author
Edward McKendree Bounds first practiced law until he was called to preach the gospel. During the Civil War he served as a chaplain in the Confederate Army and he was captured and during the battled of Nashville. After the war he served in several pastorates in the Methodist Church. At the end of his pastorate, he became the editor of the St. Louis Christian Advocate.
