Product Highlights
Very few people learn Hebrew well enough to read the Hebrew Old Testament unaided, so all Hebrew students (and former Hebrew students) can benefit from an accurate interlinear of the Hebrew Old Testament. An interlinear will prove to be a quick reference tool for easy and accurate language study. This HCSB Hebrew-English Reverse Interlinear Old Testament will provide the student of God's Word with the following:
Traditionally, multi-line Interlinear Bibles start with the Hebrew text, but this HCSB Hebrew-English Reverse Interlinear Old Testament starts with the English word as found in the HCSB Old Testament. This allows the student of God's Word to begin their study in their native language and move into the Biblical language, which can be a tremendous help for those who are new to language studies! The included HCSB Old Testament serves as an optimal-equivalence translation, meaning it is a word-for-word translation styled to clearly communicate to English readers. Based on the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, this English translation will provide readers with a reliable English translation of the Hebrew text. Directly beneath the English translation of the Old Testament text is the text of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia. The Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia is the fourth edition of the Masoretic Text of the Hebrew Bible as preserved in the Leningrad Codex, and supplemented by masoretic and text-critical notes. It is published by the Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft (German Bible Society) in Stuttgart. The Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia was prepared by H. P. Rüger and numerous other scholars on the basis of the St. Petersburg Public Library manuscript B19a and is a revision of the third edition of the Biblia Hebraica edited by Rudolf Kittel, the first printed Bible based on the Leningrad Codex. This text includes superscript numbers to indicate the word order of the passage in the original language. Following the text of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia is a direct transliteration of the Hebrew text, a Hebrew rendering of the root word, and a transliteration of the root word. This information will prove to be useful for students who want to seriously examine the definitions, etymology, and contextual meanings of the passage in study. Also included in this reverse interlinear is the Westminster-Groves Hebrew Morphology. The Westminster-Groves Hebrew Morphology was created by a team of Westminster scholars and is the most up-to-date morphological analysis work available. In 1987, a team of scholars began to perfect a computerized version of the morphological analysis of the Hebrew text. We say perfect, because the basis for the text was a machine-produced analysis done by Richard Whitaker (Claremont, Princeton Seminary), who used the IBYCUS system to develop a parser that provided a trial parsing for about 95% of the words in the Hebrew Bible. While much editing was required, this initial analysis provided an excellent beginning database from which to build the database that exists today. The combination of the machine-readable version of the text and analysis provides a significant tool for Hebrew study for students at every level of interest and ability in Hebrew. In 1998, the third version, which added homonyms and normalized the lemmatization to Kohler Baumgartner's III, was released. This on-going project is continually updated and expanded as new information becomes available. Finally, the HCSB Hebrew-English Reverse Interlinear Old Testament links all words to Strong's numbers and the corresponding Strong's phonetic pronunciation. The Strong's number will provide you with alternate English renderings of the Hebrew word and other Biblical passages the word appears in. Using the Strong's number, you will also be able to quickly consult additional dictionaries and lexicons in your library for more information. The phonetic pronunciation will serve to help pastors and students render correct pronunciations of each word in question.
