The New American Commentary Series

In development for over a decade, The New American Commentary series is for those who have been seeking a commentary that honors the Scriptures, represents the finest in contemporary evangelical scholarship and lends itself to practical work of preaching and teaching. This comprehensive series serves as a minister's friend and a Bible student's guide.

The New American Commentary is based on the inerrancy of Scripture, focuses on the intrinsic theological and exegetical concerns of each Biblical book, and engages the range of issues raised in contemporary Biblical scholarship. Drawing on the skills and insight of over forty Bible scholars, the New American Commentary brings together scholarship and piety to produce a tool that enhances and supports the life of the church.

Highlights of This Volume

This is not only a commentary on one of the most important books in the Bible. It is a theological treatise in its own right, a tract for our times with a message that can renew the life of a church beginning to blend into the worldly spirit of the age. Dr. George herein speaks prophetically as he lays bare the heart and spirit of the modern church with this sharp double-edged sword of the Lord. Like the Old Testament prophets, he has eaten this powerful scroll, placed it on his heart, and then shaped it into a lighthouse that can guide God's church through the turbulent times ahead. It must be read.

Timothy George has written a most readable, thoughtful commentary on Galatians, steeped in Reformation teaching, attentive to both classic and contemporary resources and thoroughly reliable doctrinally. He makes the text accessible to the preacher and the Bible student. A splendid addition to The New American Commentary.
