A sermon preached on Saturday 4th October, 1969 at the Opening of the Martyrs Memorial Church to an estimated crowd of 8,000. The text was Haggai 2:9 "The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts." It is printed in its original form with little editing.
THIS TEXT OF HOLY Scripture can be applied in a threefold manner. First of all, it is true DISPENSATIONALLY, and I want to talk a little about its truth, viewed in this way. This text of Scripture, thank God, can be true EXPERIENTIALLY, and in a measure materially, because, praise God, we are looking forward to the glory of God filling this house in a real spiritual and marked manner. Then last of all, this text of Scripture is going to be true ETERNALLY in the future, when the first temple of God's creation is dismantled and He shakes this old world, lays it to rest and creates a new heaven and a new earth, in which dwells righteousness. Then shall it be said, as angelic voices shout eternally the praises of God, and the redeemed voices mingle with that mighty shout of triumph to the Lamb, that the glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former.
