A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament, 2nd Edition is a scholarly work by Dr. Bruce Metzger. It is a very different type of commentary because its focus is mainly on textual variants. Metzger writes, “Most commentaries on the Bible seek to explain the meaning of words, phrases, and ideas of the scriptural text in their nearer and wider context; a textual commentary, however, is concerned with the prior question, 'What is the original text of the passage?'' In this companion to the United Bible Societies Greek New Testament (4th ed), Metzger and his expert team of scholars systematically work through the earliest manuscripts of the New Testament so that we can better understand and trust the Bible we have today. Preachers, teachers, and serious students of God's Word have found this to be a valuable exegetical resource.
